In this role, you will work on gas turbine engines, following assembly drawings and specifications to build subassemblies, modules, and accessories. You will use overhaul and repair procedures to perform mechanical work, fit and measure components, and support engine test operations. This is a second shift position for someone with formal training and significant experience in heavy automotive or aerospace mechanics. Key Responsibilities
- Assembly and Build:Â Follow assembly drawings, specifications, and computer information systems to prepare parts and build subassemblies, modules, and accessories for new gas turbine engines where tooling and process methods are established.
- Overhaul and Repair:Â Use overhaul and repair procedures and specifications to perform mechanical work on engines, modules, and related components, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards.
- Parts Preparation:Â Obtain parts and check details for conformance to assembly requirements, fitting and measuring components to ensure overall dimensions are within specified limits.
- Equipment Operation:Â Use mechanic’s hand tools, holding fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment to build engine sections and perform installation of details.
- Maintenance:Â Maintain equipment and tooling for assigned areas to ensure they are in proper working order.
- Test Support:Â Provide related support for test operations, assisting with testing under direct supervision and following specific test schedules.
- Special Programs:Â Perform similar duties to assist with co producer programs, customer support initiatives, retrofit projects, and new engine programs, adapting to changes in specifications as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and formal training in a specialized field achieving an A and P license or equivalent.
- OR four years of technical high school including technical post high school certification and five plus years of heavy automotive experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program or contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as an aerospace mechanic or A and P mechanic preferred.
- Three plus years of avionics mechanic experience.
In compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, priority consideration is given to candidates who are internal to the Pratt and Whitney IAM Bargaining Unit members of District Lodge 26 and Affiliated Locals 700 and 1746 for Connecticut operations.
