KAM Transport is seeking a dedicated Class 5 Night Driver to become a key part of our Christchurch team. In this role, you’ll take charge of a vital route, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of essential goods, all while enjoying the consistency and independence of a dedicated night run.

Key Responsibilities
You will be the dependable captain of our Christchurch–Nelson night service. Here’s what your regular run will involve:
- Safely operating a Class 5 vehicle for our dedicated nightly freight service, transporting chilled and dry food products.
- Conducting pre-trip inspections and ensuring all cargo is secured and transported in compliance with safety standards.
- Efficiently loading and unloading freight using both truck-mounted equipment and a forklift.
- Departing Christchurch between 4pm–6pm for the northbound journey to Nelson.
- Taking a regulated 10-hour rest break in Nelson, where comfortable apartment accommodation is provided for you.
- Completing the round trip by returning to Christchurch the following day to unload and prepare for the next run.
- Maintaining clear and professional communication with dispatch and customers.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a safe, steady, and responsible driver to join our night crew. Here are the essentials you’ll need to bring:
- A current, clean Class 5 Licence and a solid history of at least 5 years’ experience driving on New Zealand roads.
- A strong sense of personal reliability and commitment you understand the importance of the schedule and take pride in your punctuality.
- A Forklift licence or a genuine willingness to obtain one promptly (support provided).
- The ability to work independently, problem-solve on the go, and handle the unexpected with a calm, professional attitude.
- Good customer service and communication skills for when you’re on-site.
Bonus Points
Familiarity with a RoadRanger gearbox is a plus, but we are absolutely committed to training the right, motivated person who is eager to learn.
