This is a hands-on role where you’ll be operating specialised hydrovac equipment and performing critical excavation work across Canberra and the surrounding region. Key Responsibilities

In this field-based role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our hydrovac trucks. Your core duties will include:

• Safely operating vacuum excavator trucks and units to complete a wide variety of excavation jobs (approximately 80% physical labouring, 20% truck operation).
• Performing routine vehicle maintenance checks, cleaning, and basic upkeep to ensure equipment is always ready and safe.
• Understanding and accurately completing all required site paperwork, including JSEAs, pre-start checks, work dockets, and timesheets.
• Assisting customers on-site in a professional and helpful manner, upholding our commitment to excellent service.
• Working collaboratively within the team and supporting others to solve problems and complete tasks efficiently.
• Being available for rostered on-call work during nights and weekends, and for occasional travel for jobs outside of Canberra.

Qualifications

We are looking for reliable team members who meet the following essential criteria:

For Operators:

• A current MR or HR Truck licence.
• A valid White Card (Construction Induction Card).
• Certificates in Asbestos Awareness and Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention.
• A strong willingness for hard work and a consistently positive attitude.

For Labourers (entry-point with training provided):

• A valid White Card (Construction Induction Card).
• Certificates in Asbestos Awareness and Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention.
• A strong willingness for hard work and a consistently positive attitude.

To succeed in either role, you will also need:

• To be physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual labour in all weather conditions.
• Excellent time management, organisational skills, and reliability.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for customer service.
• Initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving on-site.

Previous experience as a vacuum excavator operator is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
