Key Responsibilities
As a Stainless Pipe TIG Welder, you will be integral to the structural and mechanical integrity of our projects. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Reading and interpreting complex project blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications to plan and execute precision TIG welds on stainless steel pipe and sheet metal.
- Performing high-quality Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) welding in various positions (6G certification is a strong asset) to meet strict industry codes (ASME, AWS) and project standards.
- Preparing materials by cutting, grinding, fitting, and beveling pipe to ensure perfect alignment and root gap for welding.
- Selecting appropriate filler metals, tungsten electrodes, and shielding gases based on material grade and weld procedure specifications (WPS).
- Coordinating with field crews and other trades to ensure efficient workflow and seamless installation of ductwork, vents, supports, and other components.
- Upholding a strict personal commitment to jobsite safety by rigorously following all company policies, OSHA guidelines, and wearing required PPE.
Qualifications
We are looking for a certified, experienced welder with a proven track record in industrial construction. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 3 years of Journeyman-level welding experience, with specialized proficiency in Stainless Steel TIG pipe welding. Additional skills in Stick (SMAW) and Flux-Core (FCAW) welding are preferred.
- A current OSHA 10-hour or MSHA certification is highly preferred. Possession of a TWIC card and valid industrial machine licenses (e.g., forklift) are significant advantages.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of welding tools, metallurgy, and codes. The ability to visualize layouts from plans, perform precise measurements, and troubleshoot mechanical systems is essential.
- Must be willing to travel extensively and work from project sites nationwide for extended periods. Must be physically able to lift 50+ lbs, work in demanding conditions (heights, weather), and perform tasks requiring prolonged stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Must possess and maintain a full set of personal hand tools, including a TIG welder, hood, gloves, grinders, and clamps.
