Key Responsibilities

  • Exercise independent judgment and lead a team of avionics technicians to complete daily aircraft maintenance tasks based on priorities set by assigned supervisors.
  • Apply expert technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting technical publications, manufacturers’ manuals, and instructions through the use of test equipment and instruments to affect repairs.
  • Perform all daily launch and recovery duties in support of operational requirements ensuring aircraft are mission ready.
  • Maintain assigned MQ-9 aircraft electrical generators, load banks, starters, relays, batteries, actuators, circuit breakers, switches, and aircraft instruments.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems including determining circuit location and density, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes.
  • Use complex test instruments including high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment to perform circuit analyses and trace signal flow.
  • Make entries in aircraft logs and records, attend shift change maintenance meetings, perform quality assurance duties, and provide guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and maintenance efforts.
  • Provide training to lower level avionic technicians and sign off work in NALCOMIS, OOMA, or IMDS maintenance systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and install various types of electronic equipment and related devices applying advanced knowledge of electronics principles.
  • Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Work without direct supervision and perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

An active Secret US Government clearance within the last 12 months is required. US citizenship is required to obtain and maintain this clearance. A high school diploma or completion of relevant military or vocational technical school curriculum is required. Candidates must have eight years of actual aircraft avionics and or Ground Control Station maintenance experience with three years of experience on MQ-9 aircraft and or GCS as an Avionics Technician. Advanced knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair, technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance, and aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting and repair procedures is essential. Candidates must have been designated a CDI or Red X inspector for MQ-9 aircraft. Knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 NAMP or DAFI 21-101 is required. Candidates must be able to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment, lift and carry military issued equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods, and speak, read, write, and understand English. A current active state issued driver’s licence is required with the ability to acquire and maintain a valid flight line Government Driver’s Licence. Candidates must be able to travel on CONUS and OCONUS deployments, meet all OCONUS deployment criteria including pre deployment medical screening, and hold a valid US Passport with a minimum of two years remaining and at least two facing pairs of blank Visa pages.
