Key Responsibilities
As a Floor Care Technician, you will be the expert responsible for the appearance and preservation of our flooring. Your primary duties, based on time allocation, will include:
- Expertly operating automatic scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers, carpet extractors, and pressure washers. Performing daily preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment.
- Executing the full cycle of hard floor maintenance, including dust mopping, scrubbing, stripping, refinishing, recoating, and burnishing floors according to a detailed schedule.
- Performing routine and project-based cleaning tasks such as trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and glass cleaning to support overall facility standards.
- Vacuuming, spot cleaning, restoring, and deep extracting carpets as required to maintain their appearance and cleanliness.
- Maintaining an organized custodial closet, managing chemical inventories, and reporting any equipment repair needs promptly.
- Safely moving and replacing furniture as needed to facilitate floor maintenance projects.
Qualifications
This is a role for a skilled professional with specific experience. The requirements are:
- Minimum of one year of full-time related work experience as a custodial worker in an educational, commercial, industrial, or medical setting, with specific, hands-on floor care experience.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend common vocabulary to understand work orders, safety sheets (SDS), and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining the full range of floor care equipment listed in the responsibilities.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, floor finishing techniques, and carpet cleaning methods.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including pushing/pulling heavy equipment, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- A pre-employment or annual physical examination may be required.
