What You Will Be Doing
Dietary Duties:
- You will complete daily audit forms and monitor food and refrigeration temperatures.
- You will assemble residents’ trays for all meals and arrange place settings in the dining room.
- You will prepare food for meals and snacks, including supplemental beverages according to individual diets.
- You will portion and serve meals according to residents’ assigned diets.
- You will assist the cook with procedures and serving when required.
- You will distribute dietary carts to and from designated areas.
- You will assist residents at meal times by transporting them and helping with selections.
- You will disassemble food carts and trays, scrape and pre-soak dishes and utensils.
- You will clean and wash dishes, pots, and pans, and operate the dishwasher.
- You will assist with special functions like Meals on Wheels and holiday events.
- You will replenish supplies in Wing lounges and kitchenettes.
- You will receive, rotate, and restock food supplies, and record inventory needs.
- You will clean and sanitize kitchen and dining room areas, surfaces, equipment, and floors.
- You will dispose of waste and deliver soiled linen to the laundry department.
- You will requisition dietary cleaning supplies as needed.
Housekeeping Duties:
- You will clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
- You will complete daily audit forms.
- You will clean floors by sweeping and scrubbing using appropriate equipment.
- You will damp dust and spot clean all furniture.
- You will empty and clean all waste paper baskets and dispose of waste properly.
- You will change drapes and bedside curtains as necessary.
- You will clean accessible windows and sills.
- You will replenish and requisition housekeeping supplies such as soap, paper towel, toilet tissue, and gloves.
- You will carbolize (disinfect and thoroughly clean) rooms monthly and after resident discharge or death.
- You will clean equipment such as commodes, wheelchairs, and mechanical lifts.
- You will disinfect and thoroughly clean isolation rooms using proper procedures.
- You will complete assigned scheduled cleaning tasks.
- You will keep all work areas and equipment clean and in good repair.
- You will report needed repairs and damaged equipment to maintenance.
- You will rearrange or transfer furniture and equipment as needed.
- You will assist by transporting residents to activities and meals as required.
Laundry Duties:
- You will complete daily audit forms.
- You will operate, clean, and maintain commercial and industrial laundry equipment.
- You will collect soiled clothes and linens, wash residents’ clothing and facility linen according to procedures.
- You will sort, weigh, and load washing machines, maintaining records of laundry processed.
- You will pre-soak stained items as needed.
- You will load drying machines according to proper procedures.
- You will unload, sort, fold, and stack clean clothes and linens, inspecting for stains or minor repairs.
- You will iron residents’ clothing and linens when necessary.
- You will prepare and deliver carts with residents’ clothing to their rooms and clean linens to designated areas.
- You will ensure residents’ personal laundry is properly identified and labeled.
- You will clean dryer filters and monitor laundry chemicals.
- You will maintain a clean, tidy, and safe laundry area.
- You will communicate with residents, team members, and families regarding laundry needs.
- You will prepare rags and distribute to various departments.
- You will order, receive stock, and maintain inventory of laundry supplies.
- You will examine laundered slings and report any issues.
What We Are Looking For
- You have a high school graduation certificate or equivalent.
- You can follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- You are physically able to perform all assigned duties, including standing, lifting, and moving throughout the shift.
- You have a good attendance record and are reliable.
- You are willing to undergo applicable screening and background checks satisfactory to The Salvation Army.
- You demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures.
- You have good interpersonal and communication skills to work with residents, families, and team members.
- You respect resident confidentiality and privacy.
