Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our driving team, you will be entrusted with the safe and efficient transport of goods. Your primary duties will include:
- Safely operating tractor-trailers and long-combination vehicles to transport goods over long distances.
- Conducting thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and all systems (tires, lights, brakes, etc.).
- Properly planning trip logistics, securing all necessary permits, and ensuring cargo is loaded and secured in full compliance with safety regulations.
- Accurately maintaining electronic logbooks (ELDs), bills of lading, and all required transport documentation.
- Communicating clearly and professionally with dispatch, customers, and team drivers using onboard technology.
- Transporting specialized or hazardous goods in accordance with all certification requirements and safety procedures.
- Performing basic emergency roadside repairs when necessary and reporting all mechanical issues promptly.
Qualifications
To ensure the highest standards of safety and professionalism, we require all candidates to possess:
- A valid, clean Class 1-A Driver’s License with Air Brake (Z) endorsement.
- A current, favorable Commercial Vehicle Abstract (Driver’s Abstract).
- A minimum of 3 years of recent, full-time experience as a Class 1 driver, specifically in long-haul transport.
- Completion of secondary school; a recognized driver training certificate is a strong asset.
- Required certifications for the specific role, which may include Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and any necessary cross-border permit knowledge.
- Proof of legal eligibility to work in Canada (Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or valid work authorization).
- A current Criminal Record Search.
- Strong proficiency in English, with the ability to understand and complete documentation and communicate effectively on the road.
