Key Responsibilities
- Assembly Work:Â Perform diversified mechanical and electro mechanical assembly, including moderately complex sub assembly work with precision and accuracy.
- Component Adjustment:Â Adjust, fit, and align components to precise tolerances according to engineering specifications.
- Blueprint Reading:Â Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to understand dimensions, reference lines, and assembly requirements.
- Surface Finishing:Â Trim, file, grind, buff, or smooth surfaces, edges, and joints of assembled pieces using hand and power tools.
- Layout and Measurement:Â Use calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers to lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials in accordance with drawings.
- Quality Inspection:Â Inspect and test completed units using appropriate measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, and gauges to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Tool Use:Â Utilize common hand tools and precision instruments effectively and safely.
- Safety Compliance:Â Maintain a safe workplace for yourself and other employees by following all safety protocols.
- Additional Duties:Â Perform other tasks as allocated by supervisors to support production goals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five to ten years of experience in a similar mechanical position or role.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, division, and working with fractions.
- Engineering and blueprint reading and interpretation aptitude.
- Ability to use common hand tools effectively.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Understanding of blueprint reading and symbols.
- Ability to work in a team environment and take direction effectively.
- Basic computer skills required including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of vacuum systems, induction furnaces, and metal reclamation systems.
- Experience using overhead and jib cranes.
- Equipment rigging experience desired.
- Experience with lift machinery such as forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift.
- Vocational training desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to talk, stoop, hear, and use fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ascending and descending stairs and or ladders.
- Work in moderate manufacturing noise levels; ability to hear and respond to instructions in loud areas.
- Close vision and ability to adjust focus and see detail.
- Occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds.
- Remain physically active for long periods.
- Work in and move about small spaces and pathways.
- Work in spaces with noise up to 100 dB with company provided ear protection.
- May be exposed to dust, irritants, electrical, mechanical, power equipment, and heat hazards.
