Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the final, quality-focused stage of our laundry process. Your key duties will include:
- Operating industrial finishing equipment such as steam pressers, and using hand irons to expertly finish a wide variety of items including pants, jackets, shirts, skirts, and hotel linens.
- Hand-ironing delicate and fine items, such as specialty linens or silk garments, with care to avoid damage.
- Hand folding and bagging finished shirts, sheets, and other articles neatly and efficiently for distribution.
- Accurately mixing and adding detergents, bleaches, starches, and other chemicals according to established procedures for different fabric types.
- Conducting a final quality check on every item, ensuring it meets our establishment’s high standards, and recording any notes about damage or improper cleaning.
- Safely handling loads of laundry and finished articles, which can weigh up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Qualifications
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented team player with the following:
- A secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Approximately 7 months to 1 year of experience in a laundry, dry cleaning, or similar role is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and hand-eye coordination to produce high-quality finishing.
- The physical capability to stand for extended periods, handle repetitive tasks, and manage a fast-paced, physically demanding workload.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure as part of a cohesive team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, which may include early morning, evening, night, day, or weekend hours.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is required for this position.
- Authorization to work in Canada is required. Willingness to relocate for this position is an asset.
