Key Responsibilities

As the Leading Hand Carpenter, you will be the key on-site leader, directly responsible for both the work and your team. Your core duties will include:

  • Leading a small team to safely and efficiently complete a scope of works including formwork construction, minor concreting (steel fixing and pours), and general carpentry tasks.
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans and scopes of work to ensure accurate execution.
  • Championing a safe work environment by enforcing strict WHS standards and leading by example.
  • Ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality standards and within project timelines.
  • Applying your trade expertise to solve problems, manage workflow, and mentor team members.

Qualifications

This role requires a solid trade foundation and proven leadership ability. The essential requirements are:

  • A Qualified Carpenter with demonstrated, hands-on site-based experience.
  • Proven leadership or Leading Hand experience in a construction environment.
  • A strong practical understanding of formwork and minor concreting works.
  • The ability to read and interpret plans and follow scopes of work accurately.
  • A solid understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and the ability to lead a team safely.
  • A current Construction White Card.
  • High levels of reliability, initiative, and communication.

Bonus qualifications that will make your application stand out:

  • Civil experience operating plant such as excavators, skid steers, rollers, or trucks.
  • Relevant RIIs or VOCs for plant machinery.
  • Experience working in industrial or heavy industry environments.
