Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented GIS Technician to join its Service Operations team in Hitachi. This role supports workshop and field service activities by ensuring proper handling, inspection, assembly, maintenance, and readiness of critical electrical equipment used throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Workshop and Equipment Operations
- Receive, inspect, and manage incoming materials, spare parts, and equipment.
- Conduct inventory verification and quality inspection of stored components.
- Prepare tools, instruments, and equipment required for site operations.
- Perform calibration of workshop tools, jigs, and measuring instruments.
- Maintain workshop facilities through daily and periodic inspections.
- Inspect returned equipment and ensure proper restoration and storage.
GIS Technical Responsibilities
- Perform full assembly of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) units manufactured overseas.
- Diagnose and repair damaged GIS equipment returned from project sites.
- Provide remote technical supervision and operational support for field activities.
- Support development and testing of next-generation service solutions such as EconiQ GIS and digital service technologies.
Training and Quality Support
- Deliver technical training programs for Field Service Engineers.
- Enhance operational quality by maintaining and upgrading technical competencies.
- Collaborate with Training Managers and Site Service teams to improve service execution standards.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure adherence to internal procedures, engineering standards, and external regulations.
- Promote workplace safety, integrity, and responsible operational practices aligned with company values.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant technical or workshop experience.
- Valid licenses for operating equipment such as:
- Forklift
- Crane or lifting machinery
- Strong technical understanding of industrial or electrical equipment handling.
- Fluency in English and Japanese (spoken and written).
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with high-voltage or power transmission equipment.
- Knowledge of GIS assembly, maintenance, or repair operations.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multicultural engineering teams.
