Key Responsibilities
As the right hand to the Operations Team Leader, your role will be dynamic and impactful. You will be responsible for:
- Providing direct, hands-on technical support and leadership on the bakery floor during your shift, ensuring all safety and quality protocols are strictly followed.
- Stepping up to act as the Operations Team Leader in their absence, overseeing daily production and team coordination.
- Leading and coaching team members, fostering a positive, high-performing, and accountable work culture.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Assisting with manufacturing trials and providing critical feedback on processes and new product introductions.
- Conducting routine equipment checks, identifying maintenance needs, and performing basic autonomous maintenance tasks.
- Flexibly supporting all areas of production as needed, including ingredient preparation and line balancing, to ensure targets are met.
Qualifications
To be a recipe for success in this role, you will need the following ingredients:
- Proven leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities to address complex operational challenges.
- A relevant baking qualification or substantial hands-on experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Excellent reliability, flexibility, and a strong team-player mentality.
- The capability to work both independently with initiative and collaboratively within a larger team structure.
- A keen eye for detail, a relentless focus on safety, and a passion for driving continuous improvement.
- A solid understanding of bakery production processes and machinery.
