Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the complete coating process, from surface preparation to final application. Your core duties will include:
- Preparing interior and exterior steel/metal surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, and using torches or other methods to ensure optimal adhesion.
- Applying protective coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and other materials using spray equipment, brushes, or rollers as required.
- Safely operating and maintaining equipment such as sandblasters, spray rigs, and small power tools.
- Accurately mixing paints and solutions to achieve specified colours and consistencies.
- Strictly adhering to all safety protocols, including the safe handling, application, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with MSDS guidelines.
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area, including equipment and paint mixing stations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven professional experience as a Painter, specifically with steel or metal structures.
- In-depth knowledge of painting materials, surface preparation techniques, and application methods.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining painting and surface prep equipment, including sprayers and sandblasters.
- A strong understanding of hazardous material safety, handling, and disposal requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, conscientious work habits, and good basic math skills for measuring and mixing.
- A commitment to following all safety procedures and producing high-quality, durable work.
