Key Responsibilities
As a Grinding Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the precise finishing of critical components. Your key duties will include:
- Setting up and operating manual or semi-automatic cylindrical and surface grinding machines to precise specifications.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and GDandT symbols to understand job requirements.
- Performing surface and profile grinding operations, including checking and balancing grinding wheels.
- Measuring and inspecting finished workpieces using precision tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators to ensure they meet exact tolerances.
- Ensuring all components achieve the required high-quality surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
- Performing routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to ensure equipment is in optimal condition.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workshop area at all times.
- Collaborating with the Supervisor on job planning, scheduling, and meeting delivery timelines.
Qualifications
This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in Cylindrical and Surface Grinding or a toolroom machining environment.
- Strong knowledge of surface finishing techniques, flatness tolerances, and material characteristics (e.g., tool steel, carbide).
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments for quality verification.
- A detail-oriented, meticulous work ethic with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Work Schedule: 5.5-day work week (Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM).
