Key Responsibilities
In this senior leadership capacity, you will be the driving force behind construction feasibility and field execution. Your core duties will include:
- Providing expert constructability input during the engineering and design phases to optimise plans for safe and efficient field execution.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive construction execution strategies, schedules, and budgets for underground mining scope.
- Leading and mentoring site construction management teams, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Coordinating all on-site construction activities, managing subcontractors, and overseeing the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
- Proactively identifying and mitigating project risks, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Serving as the primary construction authority on-site, liaising with project stakeholders, engineers, and client representatives.
The Expertise Required
This senior role requires a definitive track record and specific expertise. The successful candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 20+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with the majority focused on large-scale underground mining projects.
- A proven history of successfully leading the full construction lifecycle of complex industrial projects from feasibility to handover.
- Extensive, hands-on knowledge of construction execution strategies, heavy civil works, shaft sinking, tunnelling, and underground infrastructure.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors in a unionised environment.
- An unwavering commitment to safety, with an in-depth understanding of industry safety standards and best practices (e.g., COR, ISO 45001).
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, cost control, and contract administration.
