What You’ll Be Doing

  • Interpreting technical drawings and blueprints: You’ll read and understand engineering drawings to fabricate components accurately.
  • Working with specialised tools: You’ll use welding machines, cutting torches, and other equipment to complete your work.
  • Collaborating with the team: You’ll work alongside other tradespeople to make sure projects are delivered on time and to spec.
  • Upholding safety standards: You’ll keep your workspace organised and follow safety protocols every day.
  • Welding to code: You’ll work with MIG, FCAW, and MCAW processes—proficiency with Metal Cored process is a major bonus, as it’s our main process for defence contracts.
  • Self-inspecting your work: You’ll check your own welds against the relevant code and hold yourself to a high standard.
  • Working to tight tolerances: Precision matters, and you’ll be expected to hit the marks consistently.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficiency in reading and fabricating from engineering drawings this is non-negotiable.
  • Ability to understand and comply with Welding Procedure Specifications.
  • Strong welding skills with experience in MIG, FCAW, and MCAW.
  • Proficiency with Metal Cored process is a major bonus it’s our main process for defence contracts.
  • Experience with AS1555.4 and defence codes is a bonus.
  • Ability to self-inspect your work and hold yourself accountable.
  • Commitment to safety and working well within a team.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong timekeeping you show up ready to work.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with the team.
  • Must be in Australia and have the right to work full time.
  • Willingness to pass a pre-qualification weld test: 4G single bevel FPBW with the FCAW process, demonstrating competency to multiple codes.
